A celebration of beavers through music, beaver experts, family-friendly activities, and food! Our keynote speaker is Molly Alves from California Department of Fish & Wildlife, with music by Cuyama Mama & the Hot Flashes. Local and statewide organizations will be present to share materials about their efforts to protect the environment and celebrate our biodiversity. This year's festival will focus on the connections between beaver relocation, prescribed burning, and regenerative ranching. Come learn about beavers, the world's best engineers! Beavers are native to our county and build dams in our rivers and streams. These dams slow the water down, spread it across the landscape, and allow it to sink into the groundwater table. These dams turn single-thread streams into lush wetlands, full of life, offering solutions to pressing problems such as climate change, wildfire, drought, and water quality in our creeks, rivers, bays, and oceans. Come join in the Beaver Fun on April 12th, 10 am to 3 pm in Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo! Free bike valet provided. Event sponsors are the City of San Luis Obispo Cultural Arts and Community Promotions, New Times, KCBX, Santa Barbara Permaculture Network, Creek Lands Conservation, Nature's Engineers, and the Beaver Institute.
