Beethoven hails from the "First Viennese School", whose membership also boasts Mozart and Haydn. Wolf, a classmate of Mahler's was a master of German Lieder and carried that lyrical tradition into his Italian Serenade. And while Korngold's legacy is primarily as a film composer, his Sextet is considered to be the greatest since the sextets of Brahms. ?
